Gasarc Supports Durham University's Standardization and Gas Distribution Strategy
Durham University faced significant operational challenges due to non-standardised gas regulators and manifolds sourced from a wide range of manufacturers. This inconsistency led to difficulties in sourcing replacement parts and maintaining systems, creating inefficiencies and potential delays. Additionally, the presence of compressed gas cylinders inside buildings raised concerns around manual handling and fire risk. To address these issues, the university developed a comprehensive strategy to relocate cylinders to a central external store, piping gas safely to points of use.
The university's key objectives for this project were to:
Following a competitive tender process, Gasarc products were selected due to their quality, availability, and extensive product range. Working closely with the university and third-party collaborators involved in the design and specification of gas distribution systems, our team ensured that all products were correctly specified for their intended use. The installation now serves approximately 236 lab systems, handling a wide variety of gases, including nitrogen, argon, helium, hydrogen, and speciality mixtures.
Working with the Gasarc team has been a very positive experience. Their strong product knowledge and excellent support throughout the project have ensured that our requirements were fully met. The quality and after-sales service have been particularly impactful in ensuring the continued success of this initiative.
